The Meeting Place helped me articulate ideas about my work. It allowed me to talk with people with whom it would have been difficult to meet otherwise.
-Nick Kline, New York, NY,
2004 Meeting Place Participant

The contacts with the Reviewers as well as other Photographers has been tremendous. I consider some of these relationships to be the beginning of long term relationships.
-Kenton K. Brown, Austin, TX,
2004 Meeting Place Participant

A great way to set aside time to see new work. Working for a small gallery like Impressions, it can be difficult to set aside time to source new work and get out and meet new people and organizations. I've returned home feeling refreshed and full of new ideas.
-Pippa Oldfield, Impressions Gallery,
York, United Kingdom,
2004 Meeting Place Reviewer

In addition to the exhibitions FotoFest organizes for its international Biennial, the Meeting Place portfolio reviews for artists is an essential part of the FotoFest Biennial. The purpose of the Meeting Place is to provide artists the opportunity to have their work seen by important international curators and opinion-makers in the field of photo-related art. Over the course of the last 20 years, the Meeting Place has been the catalyst for exhibitions, publications, and wider acclaim for many artists.

To enable 2008 Meeting Place participants to share success stories from the Meeting Place, we are pleased to post stories we have received from Meeting Place artists and reviewers. Information is posted in the order in which it is received by FotoFest.

For more information on the Meeting Place or to submit a listing, please contact Marta Sánchez Philippe, Meeting Place Coordinator, at meeting@fotofest.org
