FotoFest invites you to join a lively event benefiting Houston-area students as we celebrate arts education with the opening of our yearly student exhibition FotoFinish.

Join us for a night filled with photography, advocacy for arts education, refreshing cocktails, and delectable bites. Be the first to preview of FotoFinish exhibition, featuring the artwork of students who participate in the FotoFest learning program during the 2021-22 school year. FotoFinish is a great opportunity to experience the creativity of the students and view the results of their learning in a formal exhibition.

Your support for Literacy Through Photography increases access to the arts. Our in-school and after-school residencies are based on a full-scale photography, writing, and literacy program. Literacy Through Photography empowers students to explore new avenues for self-expression and social emotional growth.

Literacy Through Photography was initiated in 1987 by FotoFest Co-Founder Frederick Baldwin with photographer and educator Wendy Ewald. Expanding to roughly one thousand Houston Independent School District students by 1990, the program has grown into a full-scale photography and literacy program offering students a creative platform for self-expression. The program blends photography-based art projects, visual literacy exercises, creative writing, and social emotional learning to stretch student imagination, broaden perspective, and build creative skills.
