Fields of Vision is an immersive sound and light show featuring the oral recordings, ancestral DNA maps, and portraits of a group of inspirational change-makers from across the globe – who focus on the themes of Freedom, Service, and Community.

Created by British artist Marcus Lyon in collaboration with Studio Sutherland, Fields of Vision is an immersive projection piece. Initially made in collaboration with St Martin-in-the-Fields, the entire façade of the historic church was the canvas for the half-hour projection that explores concepts of freedom, service, equity, and community in our modern world through oral histories, large-scale portraits, and ancestral DNA mapping. The installation features a soundscape by Brian Eno and narratives of 28 extraordinary individuals. The work aims to “tell a deeper story of our interdependence and the extraordinary power of collaboration.”

For the Houston iteration, FotoFest is presenting the immersive video projection on the façade of the iconic rice silos located in Art District Houston. The video project is an extension of Lyon’s renowned Human Atlas project which holds a mirror up to society and encourages viewers to question their own roles and responsibilities to their communities, cities and fellow human beings. Human Atlas is a social-impact art project that brings together a cohort of nominated community members to tell deeper stories about how we self-author and co-author a more hopeful future through portraits, soundscapes, and DNA mapping. Lyon has summed up these projects by saying: “We create our Human Atlas projects to inspire new generations to see the power of social change – each large-scale portrait, inspirational oral history and DNA map allows the audience to witness the extraordinary vision of those who answer the call to serve our communities across the globe.”

This event is free and open to the public. The projection is presented on the east side of the Silos at Sawyer Yards building and viewed from the Silos rear parking lot. Registration is not required to attend, but it is recommended. Registration is not required to attend, but it is recommended. Visit the link below to register.
