FotoFest's Summer Camp is a photography and writing workshop guided by the Literacy Through Photography curriculum. Held June 23–27, 2025, this year's camp explores play and collaboration through hands-on learning experiences for all skill levels, from capturing stunning landscapes to mastering portrait photography.
Inspired by the artist duo Hillerbrand+Magsamen, students will consider materials of play (e.g., cards, dominos) and document collaborative community spaces using oral history recording, archive images, and new photographs.

Summer camp encompasses a cumulative education project spanning 5 days. Parents are welcome to view students' presentations on the final day!

Activities
Visit artists and their neighborhoods to learn about their creative engagement and collaboration with the community
Gather archival images and new images to document the community and creative collaborations across Houston
Re-image a deck of playing cards through collage to showcase aspects of play and collaboration within community
Present their cards and an imagined game
Registration
Reserve your spot on the waitlist for the FotoFest Learning Program Summer Camp for an unforgettable summer experience! Waitlisters will be contacted for summer camp registration on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Registration fee: $350 per student — Registration includes a daily lunch meal and snacks for your student. Due to limited capacity, once you receive registration instructions, you will have a 7-day period to complete the registration form and payment.
