Presenting the experiences of various perspectives relating to the collection of photographic art, How Collections are Built will give the audience an inside and in-depth understanding of how and why different individuals and institutions acquire photographic work, where and from whom they buy, when collections begin to take shape, and what the overall goal of collections can be. The audience will hear from both individual and institutional collectors, private and public, and from those who facilitate the collection process.

Photography projects take time and money, something photographers know all too well. This workshop will provide the audience with guidance on producing ambitious projects, taking them from concept to completion, with special attention to securing funding to ensure the ideas become reality, whether that be long-term documentary projects, long-form visual storytelling, or large-scale installation work.
