Reading: Annette Lawrence

Wednesday, October 13 | 6PM

For decades, artist Annette Lawrence has maintained a daily habit of journaling; keeping notes on her experience of working in her studio and documenting thoughts that inform her art practice. For this reading, Lawrence will pull from a selection of her journal entries written between 1983–2021 that were penned on the date of this program. FotoFest invites you to join us for this exercise in revisiting the past with the artist during an online reading.

About the artist

Originally from New York, Lawrence lived and worked in Denton, Texas and was a Professor of Studio Art in the College of Visual Arts and Design at the University of North Texas until recently. In May 2021, the Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) announced the Texas State Legislature’s 2021 and 2022 appointment of Annette Lawrence as State Artist of the year, Visual Artist, 2D. She is currently serving as Visiting Faculty at Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont.
