The portfolio reviews will be conducted at VU', Hôtel Paul Delaroche, 58 rue Saint Lazare, 75009 Paris, Métro : Trinité - d'Estienne d'Orves
You cannot make a reservation to stay at Hôtel Paul Delaroche, it is not a "hotel" in the American or English sense of the word. The French word “Hôtel” means a very large house, not necessarily one that rents rooms. There are plenty of nearby hotels where you can rent a room. Make sure to check walking and Metro routes when choosing where to make a reservation.
You will receive a Reviewer Preference form in late September 2019, where you will rank the reviewers you most want to meet with in order of preference. These preferences are entered into a scheduling system that assigns appointments based on each registrant’s top preferences. This scheduling system is not "first come, first served". Instead, it is designed to give every registrant a chance to get review appointments with their top choice reviewers.
Please be aware that this means you will not receive your schedule until 5 days prior to your review session. FotoFest can not guarantee that you will receive all of your top preferences.
Registrants are guaranteed a MINIMUM of four one-on-one formal review appointments per day — that’s a guarantee of 4 reviews for a one-day registration; 8 reviews for a 2-days registration; or 16 reviews for a 4-days registration.
Each review lasts 20 minutes.
If you absolutely do not want to meet with a certain reviewer, you will have the option to "block" a limited number of reviewers on your preference form. If you receive an appointment with someone you do not care to meet but did not mark as "blocked" on your form, you can post a “trade request” on the reviewer exchange board, which will be located outside of the Meeting Place Office at the Whitehall Houston Hotel.
HOWEVER, we encourage you to meet with all kinds of reviewers, even ones who you think “can’t do anything for you”. You never know what connections they could make for you, or what opportunities they may have. It is always a good idea to get fresh opinions and perspectives on your work, especially from informed and experienced professionals who may see something you don’t. Be open!
The Meeting Place Registration is NON-TRANSFERABLE. FotoFest will not honor registrations that are sold or traded between registrants, and we do not make exceptions!
